✍🏾 Journal Prompts for Courage — Choosing Faith Over Fear

Courage isn’t the absence of fear - it’s trusting God enough to move through it.
When we pause to reflect and write, we invite the Holy Spirit to replace anxiety with assurance and hesitation with hope. Courage doesn’t mean you’re never afraid - it means choosing faith even when fear is present. The prompts below will help you reflect, realign, and rise in bold trust.

📖 “The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?” - Psalm 27:1

Here are five prompts to help you build courage this week:

1️⃣ What does courage mean to me right now?

Reflect on how courage shows up in your current season.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” - Deuteronomy 31:6

2️⃣ Where in my life am I holding back because of fear?

Be honest with yourself - is there a step God’s been nudging you to take?

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.” - Psalm 56:3

3️⃣ What would it look like to move forward anyway?

Visualize yourself acting in faith, even without all the answers.

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” - 2 Corinthians 5:7

4️⃣ What promise from God strengthens me when I feel afraid?

List a verse of scripture highlighting a promise from God that helps you stand firm.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation - whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life - of whom shall I be afraid?” - Psalm 27:1

5️⃣ What small, brave step can I take this week?

Courage grows in motion. Start where you are, with what you have.

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” (The seven lamps represent the eyes of the LORD that search all around the world.)” - Zechariah 4:10

💭 Reflection Thought:

Courage isn’t the absence of fear - it’s choosing faith in the face of it. Every act of bravery, no matter how small, is worship in motion.
